Tantric Tuesdays, September-November

July 28, 2010

What is Tantra? Kinky sex practices? Mystical secrecy? A direct path to liberation??

The goal of this twelve week series is to explore the foundations of Tibetan-Vajrayana (Tantric-Buddhism) in conjunction with a Vinyasa practice. The series will follow the format of the Medicine Buddha Sadhana, which is said to offer the keys to liberation for any yogi who undertakes its practice.

The Sadhana of the Medicine Buddha is an ancient practice, that utilizes Tantric meditation and ritual practices to reveal our inner Medicine Buddha. This is one of the rare Tantric practices open to any yogi, without need of Abisheka (empowerment by a Lama). The practice of the Medicine Buddha is said to achieve unfathomable merit, peace, and elightenment in this life.

By combining the Tantric practice of the Sadhana with the Hatha practice of Vinyasa, we will be elevating the Spirit, while purifying and strengthening the body. The consistent practice of Tantra and Hatha Yogas leads to a purer body and mind. We will be utilizing the teachings of Lama Zopa Rinpoche of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism, as well as the long, rich tradition of Krishnamacharya’s Vinyasa Yoga.

Classes will be from 6-8pm, Tuesday evenings, beginning September 7.

April Classes

March 31, 2010

Hello, Yogis-

Beginning Monday, 5 April, we will be having evening classes in the Blue Studio at the Source for Sacredness.  Classes will be Monday and Wednesday evenings, from 6’30-7’45pm.  As usual, they will be dynamic, Vinyasa classes-emphasizing strength, flexibility and vigor.  After this little break in teaching, I am very excited to be able to offer a stable, consistent place to practice!

The Source for Sacredness is located at 1111 Carlisle Blvd, SE.  The Source is next to Michael Thomas Coffee Roasters, and the Blue Studio opens up onto the terrace between the two buildings.

Blessings-and see you soon!!

March Classes

February 25, 2010

I have been informed by Readymade Dance Theatre Co. that March is going to be “cooky”. We will be rolling with the punches, which may mean not having classes or moving them to a different site. I will of course, keep everyone posted.

Protector Goddess Yoga

February 17, 2010

The Tantric tradition introduces us to the Divine Feminine. Within the pre-Buddhist culture of Tibet, the original Wrathful Protectors were honored as innately present within all of us, and all of creation. These primal forces were revered as essential to the process of enlightenment.

Tonight we will combine the Tantri Protector protector and Hatha-Asana practices to create an invigorating, inspiring Yoga practice. Join us for a celebration of the divine protector within each of us.

Sunday, 21 February 11am-12’15

@Readymade Dance Theatre Company Studio
4011 Silver SE , between Montclare & Morningside (across from the NMSNT)

These are Vinyasa-Yoga classes. Vinyasa-Yoga is typified by a flowing link between postures, established by the union of breath and movement. By building this union we create inner heat, which deepens the stretch in the muscles, expels toxins from the body, and leaves one with a feeling of revitalization.
Be on time; bring a yoga-mat, smile and water!!
